Hawaii Gov. David Ige on Tuesday issued a second supplementary emergency proclamation that extends the disaster emergency relief period for the Pali Highway.
Heavy rains in February were so damaging that the highway, which connects downtown Honolulu to Kaneohe and Kailua on the Windward Side of Oahu, was closed.
A lane for town-bound traffic weekdays in the morning and a lane for windward traffic in the afternoons was later made available.
Workers continue to repair damage to the slopes and other areas adjacent to the Pali Highway.
Drivers are advised to take the LikeLike Highway or H-3 until the Pali is repaired by August.
